Summary: Good for non-Brits
Rating: 5
I bought this book for an American friend taking her degree via a long-distance masters program (programme) in England. Not having Brits around with whom to confirm finer points of style and usage was a problem; this book was a big help. Easy, fast, uncluttered -- it provided the answers to the little niggling questions that would otherwise have caused some tossing and turning. Great little volume.

Summary: Common Sense
Rating: 3
This book is a good start if you have no idea how to go about writing a professional paper. If you have written long term papers in the past and have an academic advisor, this book may not be the one for you, but if you are on your own and have no idea what you are supposed to do... why not.

Summary: the thesis writing bible
Rating: 5
This book covers all aspects of writing a thesis or dissertation. The author is an experienced scientist and her PhD students are reknowned for their well written work. There are even tips on those lessons at school that you always fell asleep in - grammar! I don't know how I would ever have got through things without this book. An ironic sense of humour makes it all most readable.

By Herman Wouk

Product Description:
Guy Carpenter is a physicist with a quiet, settled life: a prestigious job at NASA, a devoted wife and new baby, and a troublemaking cat. But he is about to get mixed up in an international scandal of enormous proportions. Years ago, Guy worked on the Superconducting Super Collider, a giant scientific project dedicated to detecting a tiny, elusive particle, the Higgs Boson. Wrangling in Congress shut the project down before it could fulfill its objective, but now the Chinese claim to have found the Boson-a discovery that sends the nation into a panic. How did the Chinese surpass American science? What about the horrific military implications of a Boson Bomb? Is it time to start casting Hollywood's first Boson blockbuster? An expert is needed to assess the new threat to national security. Before he knows it, Carpenter is propelled into the center of the media blitz, his old love with a Chinese female physicist resurfaces, a new romance with a beautiful Congresswoman beckons, and the breakup of his happy marriage threatens. In the meantime, Congress holds urgent hearings, Hollywood comes courting, and an unctuous reporter dogs his every step. It's going to be anything but a typical few weeks. Once again, Herman Wouk exercises his deep insight and considerable comic powers to give us a witty and keen satire about Washington, the media, and science, and what happens when these three great forces of American culture clash.

Summary: You don't have to be a scientist to enjoy this novel
Rating: 5
Technology has been part of our daily life for a while now, and yet there is still too much work to be done. A novel like "A hole in Texas" helps average people to engage in interesting subjects even whitout knowing it. On top of that, it is a fun book to read. Highly recommended.... of course, this is just me talking, ok?

Summary: A Fun Light Read
Rating: 5
When I started this book, I wasn't sure that I would be interested enough to complete it. But it turned out to be a well-written, entertaining fast-paced page turner that maintained my interest.

The story involves a physicist who used to work with the Superconducting Supercollider (SSC) in Texas, a mammoth project until governmental funding was abruptly canceled. Now the Chinese claim to have discovered the Higgs Boson particle, which the SSC would have found if it had been continued. This starts a political and media firestorm that carries the physicist in its wake, jetting back and forth across the country dealing with politicians, Hollywood celebrities, and fellow scientists (including one who is an old flame).

The story is light-hearted and a bit tongue in cheek. It's not epic literature or profound drama, but I found it very enjoyable as entertainment, and as a fantasy of what it is like to move within the circles of the powerful and influential in America. (Plus you learn a little bit about the SSC and Higgs Boson.)

Summary: high stake sub-atomic physics
Rating: 4
I was intrigued by the idea that Herman Wouk was still writing books, and being a native Texan, was attracted to the title. The story involves an astrophysicist who was formerly involved in the now defunct Superconducting Supercollider. Now he gets involved in the national uproar over the Chinese discovery of the Higgs Boson (which the former SSC was supposed to find) and the potential superbomb it might enable. Our hero gets connected with a romantic congresswoman, his former Chinese love, a zealous reporter, many lawyers, and former academic colleagues. And to top it all off, he must save his marriage while keeping America safe. This light hearted romp is interesting.

Summary: Interesting tale
Rating: 4
Perhaps I am influenced by being a resident of Texas, but I enjoyed this tale and its characters. Had to wonder what kernels of truth might have been hidden in the workings of politicians. More than a few laughs in this book which is a quick read.

Product Description:
This book shows traders how to use Intermarket Analysis to forecast future equity, index and commodity price movements. It introduces custom indicators and Intermarket based systems using basic mathematical and statistical principles to help traders develop and design Intermarket trading systems appropriate for long term, intermediate, short term and day trading. The metastock code for all systems is included and the testing method is described thoroughly. All systems are back tested using at least 200 bars of historical data and compared using various profitability and drawdown metrics.

Summary: A must read for every serious trader.
Rating: 5
This book is a must read for every serious trader. It is an original work and a very serious method to clarify intermarket relationships, especially in volatile markts, like these, where even seasoned traders start to doubt their abilities to navigate through them. What I like about it, is it's scientific approach, using vast amounts of data to prove it. A very helpful introduction makes it easier to follow the rest of the book. Excellent work.

Summary: Title1
Rating: 5
This book contains statistically valid methods that should be in the arsenal of any serious trader in today's marketplace.

Summary: Intermarket analysis
Rating: 5
I am convinced that this book should be read by every serious trader or investor, fundamentalist or technician, dealing in stocks, bonds or commodities.
It is clear written, brief and original; by far the most useful and comprehensive for Trading ETF, Forex ,Stocks and futures with metastock code.
I think this book is one of the best on the subject of Intermarket analysis , functional especially for trading system development in today's volatile markets.

Summary: A serious book for ever serious trader !
Rating: 5
The Intermarket analysis is poorly covered in current literature, with few books of historical data and boring details.
Instead in this book the Author, who has mastered the Intermarket analysis, shares discoveries on market correlations, and helps reader to develop indicators and strategies for Etf, Futures and Stocks.
This book makes easier to understand today markets, and I suggest it for intraday and both long and short term trading. It is not for fiction traders who bet on markets direction, but for people really trading their own accounts, studying a lot of technical analysis and pondering experts ideas.
The book is written in plain English, contains useful info on international markets, and a lot of MetaStock (MS) codes to help users to design (or improving their) trading systems, even you aren't the best programmer. Users of other technical software can easily develop their trading strategies, because in the Appendix there are the MS formulas and Test Specifications for all systems.
Reading this book grow up your fever to go to your pc for studying the correlations Author disclosed, and training with his trading strategies !

Minus : discussion on fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms are very introductory (but these are very specific topics). Author limited his Intermarket analysis to major markets, and not all exchange products are covered.

Plus : the best book on the subject I ever red : the Intermarket concepts behind trading ideas are well explained. Trading strategies are deeply tested. Author insights help to really make money in today markets. Good value for price : many systems described would cost hundred dollars to buy !

Summary: 2 Good Chaps
Rating: 2
I liked Chap 4 - Fundamentals and Chap 25 Shanghai BC and for these alone it may be worth a read. The rest is so so. Its by no means a must have book for forex trading and really is a promotion for Global View - which is ok too.

Summary: Enriched my trading experience immensely
Rating: 5
I don't usually take the time to write reviews... but felt it was a worthwhile endeavor this time. I bought a bunch of books on trading currencies to try and get more perspective on how others think about and approach the forex market. I never worked in finance, so i don't have a personal network of connections to collaborate and share ideas with. This Global-View.com guide, more than any of the other books I picked up, gave me what i was looking for. All the books lay out specific chart patterns, market fundamentals, and different trade setups, but what set this one apart for me was the community behind it. The book is a gateway to this global network of professionals and like-minded traders around the world. It's "crowdsourcing" and knowledge sharing at its finest, brought to bear on the addictively exciting and impossibly complex puzzle that is the fx market. The book and its authors introduced me to a live community that's been my broadening my market knowledge and enriching my trading experience more than any ordinary book on technical studies or fundamental analysis ever could.

Summary: "FOREX ESSENTIALS in15 Trades" a valuable resource.
Rating: 5
I found this book very helpful and easy to read. I appreciated the authors sharing their years of experience in this field. It made me aware that trading is not just a bunch of numbers and I better be prepared before I get started. I would have liked to see some setup patterns in the trades section. Overall I give this book high grades.

Summary: Not possible to understand Forex competitively without this resource
Rating: 5
Simply put, I had a longstanding professional and private interest in FOREX investment which made an understanding of the major approaches to FOREX investment strategies critical to investing success. Between work, professional school, and personal dedication, I probably read about 8 or 9 books dedicated to the subject, the best of which was Meisler and Bland's FOREX essentials. Do yourself a favor and start with this book--even if you're interested in other markets, this book is an extremely useful resource for investment strategies in general. I found the chapters on the Forum Rules of Behavior and How to Use the Forums to be particularly insightful and helpful.

Summary: Very Helpful for Novice and Intermediate Investors
Rating: 5
I am a relatively new investor (began actively trading in 2004) who decided to enter the ForEx market amidst the recent economic downturn. I have found Bland's treatment of ForEx trading to be extremely informative and valuable to my foray into this sector, and I look forward to applying this methodology to future trades.
